Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has officially announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council following a valedictory cabinet meeting.
The final ministerial gathering took place inside the Executive Chambers at the Governor’s Office located in Ado-Ekiti, serving as the concluding meeting as the Oyebanji administration wraps up its first term.
Proceedings began with worship songs, hymns, and moments of gratitude to celebrate divine guidance throughout the administration’s initial four-year term.
Oyebanji praised his former executive council members as an exceptional team whose dedication enabled his government to fulfill its campaign commitments to citizens.
The governor expressed deep appreciation for the privilege and wisdom granted to serve the people of Ekiti State, emphasizing that his administration stayed focused on transforming the state into a better home for everyone.
He thanked the cabinet members for backing government initiatives and policies, promising to sustain communication with them moving forward.
Governor Oyebanji specifically noted that the cabinet dissolution exempts key administrative officers, namely the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro; the Chief of Staff, Mr. Oyeniyi Adebayo; and the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, who will keep their respective offices.
During the session, departing cabinet members shared reflections on their governance experiences and thanked the governor for the opportunity to contribute under his leadership.
The valedictory event concluded with the ceremonial cutting of a cake to mark the end of the council’s tenure.
Governor Oyebanji, who secured victory in the June 20 gubernatorial polls, is set to take his oath of office for a second four-year term on Friday, October 16, 2026.
