The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted thunderstorms and rain across Nigeria from Sunday to Tuesday.
Their weather outlook, issued on Saturday, predicts morning thunderstorms in parts of Borno, Jigawa, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Gombe States on Sunday.
The agency also expects widespread thunderstorms in the northern region during the afternoon and evening.

“In the North Central region, thunderstorms with rain are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States during the morning hours.
“Later in the day, thunderstorms with rain are expected over the entire region. Cloudy skies are expected over southern cities during the morning hours, with intermittent rain expected over most parts of the region later in the day.”
On Monday, morning thunderstorms are expected in parts of Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa, Yobe, and Jigawa States, with additional thunderstorms forecasted for the northern region later in the day.
NiMet also predicts morning thunderstorms with rain in the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara States.
In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms are anticipated in the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, and Niger States, while southern regions will experience mostly cloudy skies.
Intermittent rain is expected across most parts of the region throughout the afternoon and evening.

“For Tuesday, morning thunderstorms are expected over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna States in the northern region.
“Later in the day, cloudy skies are anticipated over the entire region.
“In the North Central region, thunderstorms with rain are anticipated over parts of Niger and Kwara States during the morning hours.
“During the afternoon and evening hours, thunderstorms with rain are expected over parts of Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue States. Intermittent rain is expected over the southern region throughout the day.”
The agency advised residents to steer clear of flood-prone areas due to a high risk of urban flooding from heavy rains, and warned that strong winds may accompany thunderstorms.
It also urged the public to follow safety advisories from authorities and stay updated with NiMet’s forecasts by visiting their website (www.nimet.gov.ng).
Airline operators are encouraged to get airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for better operational planning.
