Things To Know About New DGs For NIA, DSS

President Bola Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a statement on Monday, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced that President Tinubu has appointed Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Adeola Ajayi as the new head of the Department of State Services (DSS).

These changes come after the resignations of Ahmed Rufai from the NIA and Yusuf Bichi from the DSS.

Notably, Tinubu had retained Bichi and Rufai in June 2023 when he dismissed all service chiefs and heads of security agencies.

Mohammed Mohammed

The newly appointed NIA Director-General, Mohammed Mohammed, has had a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the agency in 1995.

Over the years, he has held various positions, ultimately rising to the rank of Director and leading the Nigerian mission in Libya.

A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Mohammed has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.

Adeola Ajayi

Prior to his appointment as Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi advanced through the ranks to become Assistant Director-General of the Service.

He has previously held positions as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
