Face Of Mohammed NIA DG, Ajayi DSS Boss Emerge

President Bola Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a statement on Monday, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced that President Tinubu has appointed Mohammed Mohammed as the new head of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Adeola Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).

These appointments follow the resignations of Ahmed Rufai from the NIA and Yusuf Bichi from the DSS.

Notably, Tinubu had previously retained Bichi and Rufai in June 2023 when he dismissed all service chiefs and heads of security agencies.

Mohammed Mohammed

The new NIA Director-General, Mohammed Mohammed, has had a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995. He has held various positions, eventually advancing to the rank of Director and leading the Nigerian mission in Libya. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Mohammed’s experience includes postings in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.

Adeola Ajayi

Before his appointment as DSS Director-General, Adeola Ajayi advanced through the ranks to become Assistant Director-General of the Service. He has served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
