What Transpired When Former NIA DG, Ahmed Abubakar Arrived In Katsina After Tendering Resignation To Tinubu

Ahmed Abubakar, the immediate past Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, received a warm welcome from the Katsina Emirate Council and residents upon his return to his hometown.

Arriving on Friday to cheers and jubilation, Abubakar, who holds the title of Sardaunan Katsina, was greeted by emirate council officials, family, friends, and well-wishers at Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport.

As he traveled through Katsina, residents praised him before he visited the Emir of Katsina’s palace.

There, he expressed condolences to Emir Dr. Abdulmuminu Kabir-Usman over the recent death of his younger brother, Hassan Kabir-Usman.

Abubakar thanked the emirate council for its support during his tenure and promised to continue providing assistance.

The emir welcomed him back and praised his dedicated service to the nation.

Abubakar resigned from his position on August 24 after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, citing “personal and family issues” as reasons for his departure.

He had served as the intelligence chief since 2018.

A native of Katsina State, the 71-year-old retired foreign service officer holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in French from Bayero University, Kano, and is also proficient in English and Arabic.
