Court Gives Fresh Order To Nigerian Correctional Service On Detained Binance Executive

A Federal High Court in Abuja has directed officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Kuje to provide Tigran Gambaryan, a detained executive of Binance Holdings Limited, with a wheelchair.

Justice Emeka Nwite issued this order on Monday after Gambaryan, who was using crutches, complained about his deteriorating health due to inadequate medical care since his detention.

Gambaryan, who has been living with a herniated disc for 12 years, reported that his condition had worsened due to the lack of proper medical attention at the facility.

He admitted to Justice Nwite that he now has difficulty walking and requested that his counsel’s plea for a wheelchair be addressed.

Upon questioning the prison official present about the denial of a wheelchair, Justice Nwite promptly ordered that one be provided, which was done immediately.

However, the trial was postponed due to the absence of officials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), who were subpoenaed to produce certain documents.

The case has been adjourned to Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
