BREAKING: Shettima Takes Action On Lokpobiri, Kyari Over Fuel Crisis

In an effort to address the recent surge in petrol prices and the ongoing fuel shortage, Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, convened an emergency meeting with key figures in the petroleum sector.

The meeting, held at the Vice President’s Office in the State House, Abuja, included the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri; the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari; and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

This meeting follows the NNPC Limited’s recent decision to raise fuel pump prices from an average of ₦617 to ₦897.

This increase has led to a swift rise in the cost of goods and transportation.

After the meeting, Minister Lokpobiri reassured the public that the fuel crisis would be resolved soon, emphasizing that the NNPC has adequate fuel supplies to meet national demand.

He urged Nigerians to stay calm, noting that increased fuel availability would encourage competition and help lower prices.

Lokpobiri also clarified that the government was not responsible for the recent price hikes.
