According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the collapse of Alau Dam early Tuesday morning has led to widespread flooding in various wards of the town, displacing thousands of residents who are seeking safer locations.

He said, “Just now, we went for a rescue and proceeded to distribute sandbags in Gozari.

“As I am talking to you now, I am trapped..We came to rescue some people and we are now trapped with my staff.’’

Meanwhile, hundreds of people are taking to the streets with no place to go, with some seen lying or sitting under tree canopies with their families.

Musa Abbas, who is with two women and six children, shared that he has nowhere to go, as his brothers live in the Bulumkutu area, which requires crossing a bridge now inundated by the flood.

“The bridge is now submerged; I can’t cross, and my brothers can only come for me.

“We will sleep here and continue to pray the rain won’t come,” Abbas said.
