Shehu Sani Reacts To Fayose’s Statement That Northerners Are Giving Birth To Children They Can’t Cater For

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has urged former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose to apologize to the people of the North following his controversial comments about the region.

Fayose had caused a stir by attributing the federal government’s failure to develop Nigeria to northerners marrying multiple wives and having many children indiscriminately, which he claimed created significant problems for the country and burdened the government.

“The reason why it is difficult for Tinubu to develop Nigeria is because Northerners are giving birth to children they can’t cater for,” Fayose had said in an interview on a Channels Television programme on Monday night.

Fayose had claimed that the population explosion in the Northern region was the reason President Bola Tinubu had been unable to advance the country’s development.

As many Nigerians have criticized the former Ekiti governor for his remarks, Shehu Sani has also weighed in, urging Fayose to apologize to the Northern region due to his position as an elder statesman.

In a post on his X handle on Tuesday, the former lawmaker wrote: “Even though Fayose spoke as an individual, his reported statement on Northerners is contemptous and unconscionable.

“I suggest he should humbly withdraw it and tender an apology as a statesman”, Sani stated.
