BREAKING: Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior Considering Saudi Offer

Vinícius Júnior is the latest high-profile target for the Saudi Pro League, according to a source speaking with ESPN.

The Real Madrid player is currently considering an offer to move to the Gulf country.

At 24, Vinícius played a crucial role in leading Real Madrid to a Champions League and LaLiga double last season and is a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or this year.

Discussions have taken place between Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Real Madrid regarding the potential move. However, Real Madrid is reluctant to part with the star player.

The source mentioned to ESPN that there has not yet been a formal, official offer for Vinícius.

During the 2023-24 season, Vinícius scored 24 goals in all competitions and has been a key player for Real Madrid since joining in 2018, including scoring in two Champions League finals.

The Saudi PIF holds a 75% stake in the country’s four major clubs: Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, and Al Nassr. The Saudi project envisions Vinícius as an ambassador for the 2034 World Cup.

The Saudis have approached Vinícius’ representatives with a proposal that includes an annual salary of up to €350 million ($382.5 million). The player has not dismissed the idea outright.

Real Madrid would expect to receive Vinícius’ buyout clause, set at €1 billion, for any potential transfer. His contract at the Bernabéu is valid until June 2027.

The source close to the player indicated to ESPN that for the transfer to proceed, Real Madrid would likely need to agree to a fee below the release clause value.
