BREAKING: Bauchi Emirate Withdraws Title from Senator, Gives Reason

The Bauchi State Emirate Council has stripped Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South, of his traditional title of “Mujaddadin Bauchi” following his criticism of Governor Bala Mohammed.

In a letter dated August 14, 2024, addressed to the Senator and signed by Nasiru Musa on behalf of the Emirate Council Secretariat, the council, led by the Emir of Bauchi, stated that a recent meeting determined Senator Buba’s comments about Governor Mohammed were insulting and disrespectful.

The council found that these remarks violated the Emirate Council’s cultural and traditional norms.

Senator Buba’s criticisms were made during the launch of the APC local government elections campaign in Bauchi. He responded to Governor Mohammed’s critiques of President Bola Tinubu by accusing the Governor of implementing poor policies that have worsened poverty in the state. He also called for accountability regarding federal funds allocated to Bauchi State.

Senator Buba listed several relief items, such as rice and fertilizers, that he alleged Governor Mohammed failed to distribute.

Additionally, Buba asserted that President Tinubu is not a political equal to Governor Mohammed, positioning himself as the Governor’s political peer.

He also reminded how the Governor did not secure the presidential ticket and criticized him for constructing a grand private residence in Bauchi State.
