BREAKING: Date Tinubu Will Swear In Kekere-Ekun As CJN Emerge

President Bola Tinubu is set to swear in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) on Friday, August 23, 2024.

On Thursday, August 22, President Tinubu also extended his congratulations to Justice Olukayode Ariwoola on his retirement as Chief Justice of Nigeria, following a distinguished career in public service.

In a statement issued by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, it was noted that Justice Ariwoola had previously served on the Court of Appeal in Kaduna, Enugu, and Lagos Divisions before his elevation to the Supreme Court in 2011.

He was appointed Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2022 and has contributed significantly to the judiciary in various capacities.

President Tinubu praised Justice Ariwoola for his exemplary service to the nation, acknowledging his leadership of the judiciary, his contributions to Nigerian jurisprudence, and his role in fortifying the legal framework of the country.

“The President thanks Justice Ariwoola and wishes him the very best for the future.

“President Tinubu will swear in Justice Ariwoola’s successor at the State House Council Chambers on August 23, 2024,” he added.
