The Federal Government has announced an increase in the fees for Nigerian passports, effective September 1, 2024.
According to a statement from DCI Kenneth Udo, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service, this adjustment is part of the government’s efforts to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.

The new fees are as follows: a 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity, previously costing ₦35,000, will now be ₦50,000. Similarly, a 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity, which was ₦70,000, will now be ₦100,000.
The statement notes that fees for Nigerians living abroad will remain unchanged.
While the NIS expressed regret for any inconvenience this increase may cause to applicants, it reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and high-quality service delivery.
