The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, welcomed Abdullahi Ali, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday.
Known as Alin Kano, Ali hails from Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area in the Kano South Senatorial District.
Jibrin received Alin Kano at his office in the National Assembly, Abuja.
He praised Alin Kano as “a hard-working and truthful politician who is always at the forefront of activities relating to youths and students at the local and national levels.”

Jibrin expressed confidence that Alin Kano’s defection would strengthen the APC in Dawakin Kudu, Kano South, Kano State, and across the nation.
“Today, we are delighted and excited to welcome this hard-working and well-known young politician, Alin Kano, to our party. He has been an ardent member of the PDP until today when he joined us.
“With this kind of development, we are becoming stronger every day. We have known him for a long, and we know his potential and expertise.
“As you can see, he has already swung into action, as he was accompanied by the leadership of the APC in his own LGA,” he added.

In announcing his defection to the APC, Alin Kano expressed that Senator Barau Jibrin has been his role model and admirer for more than 30 years.
“I am here at the office of the Deputy President of the Senate to announce my defection from PDP to the APC.
“My decision is because of the tremendous projects, interventions, and support the Deputy President of the Senate is doing in Kano and the entire North,” he said.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including Labaran Madari, the Minority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, and Tanko Yakasai, the Special Adviser to the President on Community Engagement for the North West, among others.
