Onyeka Onwenu, the renowned Nigerian music icon affectionately known as the “Elegant Stallion,” will be laid to rest today in Lagos.
Onwenu passed away on July 30, 2024, at Reddington Hospital in Ikeja after collapsing at an event honoring Dr. Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.
She was 72 years old.

The funeral service will be held at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi, according to family announcements.
The Service of Songs is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the burial taking place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., as detailed in the funeral flyer.
Onyeka Onwenu was not only a renowned musician with many hits but also a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.
She is survived by her two sons.
