BREAKING: DSS Takes Fresh Action On NLC President, Ajaero

Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Party (NLC), was released on bail by the Department of State Security (DSS) around 11:25 p.m., just minutes before the midnight deadline set by unionists.

Ajaero had been detained earlier that morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja as he was preparing to fly to the United Kingdom for an official engagement.

He was scheduled to attend the British Trade Union Congress (TUC) conference in London, which began the previous day.

A national officer of the NLC confirmed to Daily Trust that the DSS had released Ajaero on bail.

Activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, also confirmed Ajaero’s release in a post on X (formerly Twitter) Monday night.

Additionally, human rights activist and NLC lawyer Deji Adeyanju verified the news of the labour leader’s release.

He said: “Yes, he has been released.”
