BREAKING: Israeli Airstrike Kills Hezbollah Special Forces Commander

A senior Hezbollah commander, Mohammed Qassem Al-Shaer, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon.

Al-Shaer, who led Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, was struck in the village of Qaraoun in the western Beqaa district on Tuesday, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The IDF stated that Al-Shaer was involved in numerous terrorist activities against Israel and that his death would weaken Hezbollah’s capability to launch attacks from southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah confirmed Al-Shaer’s death and retaliated by firing “dozens” of Katyusha rockets and several drones at two locations in northern Israel.

The IDF reported no casualties from these attacks, noting that some projectiles were intercepted while others fell in open areas.

In response, the Israeli military targeted Hezbollah launchers in the areas of Mansouri and At Tiri. Earlier, the Israeli Air Force also struck a Hezbollah military structure in the village of Rachaf in the Nabatieh governorate, injuring 12 people according to Lebanon’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center.

This incident follows the recent killing of Hezbollah’s senior military official, Fu’ad Shukr, in a drone strike in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Shukr’s death was the highest-profile Hezbollah assassination since Mustafa Badreddine in 2016.

The recent hostilities have heightened tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, which have been exacerbated by ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza since October 7.
