Nigerian football legend Jay Jay Okocha has weighed in on the long-standing debate over who is the greatest footballer of all time: Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
For nearly two decades, the rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo has dominated conversations about football greatness, with the two players amassing a combined total of thirteen Ballon d’Or awards—Messi with eight and Ronaldo with five.
In a recent interview with Pulse Fun Facts, Okocha acknowledged the exceptional talent of both players but declared Messi as the best.

He said, “They are both GOATs but my personal GOAT is Messi because he looks more natural to me.”
Okocha’s illustrious career, which stretched from 1990 to 2012, was marked by his spectacular skills on the field.
His time in England, especially with Bolton Wanderers, earned him the nickname ‘so good they named him twice.’
Okocha’s endorsement of Messi adds a personal perspective to the ongoing debate, which also features opinions from other football legends like Paul Scholes.
Scholes, who played alongside Ronaldo at Manchester United from 2003 to 2009, has similarly suggested that Messi still holds an edge over Ronaldo.
