The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has activated the collation centres for the governorship election results in Edo State. The returning officer for the election is Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
INEC had earlier announced its readiness to begin state-level collation. This was disclosed by Mohammed Haruna, National Commissioner and member of the Information and Voter Education Committee, during a press conference on Sunday.
Additionally, INEC confirmed that it has activated its INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal for uploading polling unit results, with results already collated from all 192 wards.

It said, “Similarly, collation has been concluded in most of the Local Government Areas and the designated officials are already at the collation centre in Benin City or on their way. We are set to commence State-level collation.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, the collation of result will proceed as provided by the Electoral Act 2022 and our regulations and guidelines for the conduct of elections. There is a mechanism for redressing complaints during collation, including the power to review results declared under duress. The Commission will not hesitate to invoke such powers where necessary.
INEC advised that all accredited party agents, observers, and the media should be given unrestricted access to all collation centres.
The commission also urged security agencies to maintain the same level of vigilance and professionalism that contributed to the peaceful conduct of the election, as the collation process nears completion.
