Fintiri Lists Conditions For Aspiring Successor

With 27 months remaining until the 2027 general elections, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has laid out guidelines for his potential successor, emphasizing the need for the state to remain a stronghold of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Fintiri’s remarks came a day after the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) vowed to reclaim the state in 2027.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Government House, when the 226 PDP ward chairmen and state executives paid him a courtesy visit, the governor said that any candidate aiming to succeed him must be deeply connected to the grassroots and genuinely committed to the welfare of Adamawa’s people.

Commending the leadership of the party in the state, led by chairman Abubakar Shehu, Fintiri praised the ward executives for keeping the PDP strong at the grassroots level. He also called for quarterly meetings to further reinforce the party’s strength.

The governor reassured the executives that his administration would continue to improve upon its work, with a commitment to maintaining progress until the people of Adamawa are fully satisfied and the state thrives.

Fintiri also expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the Edo governorship election, describing it as “daylight robbery” and a “rape on democracy.”

Fintiri declared, “Considering how the opposition became mischievous and used the social media to divert the attention of Nigerians, thereby robbing the people of their choice,  the party will seek redress in court until it reclaims its mandate,” he said.

The governor, reaffirming his commitment to the PDP, encouraged party members to remain steadfast and undeterred. He urged them to continue working together in unity as he strives to contribute to the country’s progress through the PDP.

According to him, “the PDP is full of capacity, energy, and the wherewithal to march the opposition,” reiterating that as long as “we hold the ground the party will bounce back to take over the country in 2027.”
