President Bola Tinubu has submitted the names of inaugural members for the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission to the Senate for confirmation.
The announcement, made on Saturday, was signed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, and titled “President Tinubu Appoints the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission.”
This follows the President’s signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law on July 24, marking a key milestone in the Commission’s formation.

Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa has been nominated as Chairman, while Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji from Kano will serve as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.
Other members include Dr. Yahaya Namahe (Sokoto), Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Tijani Kaura (Zamfara), Abdulkadir Usman (Kaduna), Muhammad Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).
Onanuga noted that the nominated board members are expected to use their extensive experience to advance the Commission’s goal of developing the North West region.
He highlighted that the NWDC will focus on driving significant growth, economic empowerment, and social development in the area.
The President reaffirmed his strong commitment to supporting the NWDC’s mission of achieving sustainable development in the North West.
