Why I Ordered The Killing Of Aye Leader In Ijoko – Eiye Confraternity Leader

The leader of the Eiye Confraternity in Ijoko, Ogun State, Adejumo Wasiu, also known as Bombler, explained that he ordered the killing of a rival cultist, Segun (alias Adisa), as an act of vengeance for his father’s death at the hands of the Number 1 Black Axe cultist and his members.

According to Ogun State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, Wasiu was among several cultists recently arrested by the Anti-Cultism Squad, led by Commander CSP Sunday Daramola, following a series of killings between rival cult groups across the state.

The investigation revealed that in May, Wasiu had ordered the killing of an Aye cultist named Adisa.

Afterward, he jumped bail on a cultism-related case he was facing when he learned that he would be arrested for murder.

According to Nigerian Tribune, Wasiu then sought refuge in Igboora, Oyo State, where he was ultimately located, arrested, and returned to Eleweran for questioning.

In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, the 37-year-old Wasiu shared, “I’m from Abeokuta. I used to sell used clothes and shoes. I lived in Ifo before moving to Igboora in Oyo State when I realized I was wanted by the police for the murder of Adisa.”

“I belong to Eiye Confraternity. I am the Number 1 in Ijoko. I was in Ifo when this incident happened. In March this year, I was on a motorcycle on my way to Sango when I was stopped by the police. Truly, my dressing looked like that of a Yahoo boy and I believed that was what they would ask me.

“When the police questioned me on my source of living, I told them I was into sales of used clothes and shoes. They asked to check my phone, and because I had nothing to hide, I consented. They checked through and didn’t see anything incriminating until they got to the WhatsApp and saw a group chat which I had archived.

“It was an occultic society to which I belonged. I had over 100 messages that I had not gone through. They asked if I belonged to the cult and I confessed to it, but told them I was no longer in the group, which was why I put it in the archive.

“I was brought to Eleweran and charged to court for belonging to a cult. I perfected my bail and went home. I was attending court sittings on dates of adjournment and did so three times.

“There was court sitting on July 1. On a particular day, someone whom I know among state security agencies (name withheld) called and warned me that I should not go to court as I would be arrested for murder.

“I was afraid because of this, and prior to it, I had been thinking of relocating to Igboora in Oyo State. I had already secured an accommodation but I had yet to furnish it or get household items.

“However, when I heard of what I was likely to experience, I decided to jump bail and went to Igboora. The man who stood as surety for me started calling me, asking me why I didn’t go to court and telling me that he had been summoned by the court. I confided in him what I heard and told him it was the reason I didn’t go to court.

“What happened was that in May, before I stopped going to court, one of my members, who is my Number 2,  sent a message to me that he saw the leader of Aye Confraternity in Ijoko, Adisa, under the bridge in the area. I was already in Igboora then with a lady I had impregnated. I had dumped my former girlfriend. Immediately I heard that, I gave ‘speech’ to my Number 2 that he and others should ‘fall’ (kill) Adisa.”

“It was Adisa, Olamilekan and Fatai who came to our house on Ileya celebration Day and killed my father. We were living in the same neighbourhood. They hacked my father to death.”

“When I told my surety of my predicament and its expected consequence (my likely arraignment and subsequent remand in prison), he insisted that I should make an appearance. However, I decided to change my SIM card so that he would be unable to reach me.

“At that time, I had a misunderstanding with the girlfriend I had in Ifo because another one I got in Igboora was already pregnant. When the one in Ifo heard of it, she was so angry that I had to block her from getting through to me.

“My mother later called that my Ifo girlfriend told her that she was also pregnant and I should allow her to come to me. My Igboora girlfriend also agreed because of my mother’s persuasion, unknown to us that she was coming with the police, court clerks and my surety. That was how I was apprehended. I discovered that she was not pregnant at all.”

“Apart from Adisa, before I first went to prison, I killed an Aye cultist, EnuEja, about seven years ago. That was when there was rivalry between two monarchs in Ijoko. Eiye cult members were supporting one of them while Aye cultists were for the other

“Three of us in Eiye cult joined the monarch (name withheld) we were supporting — Clef, Fele and I. When Fele was killed and I saw that the traditional ruler we were supporting did not show up or do anything, we decided to be on our own.

“I was arrested on August 2, 2017, charged to court and imprisoned.  I regained freedom on January 17, 2023.”

I joined Eiye cult group in 2003. My bird name is Kiwi. To introduce myself, I would just say: ‘Word Kiwi Oshe.’ My godfather’s name was Usman, but he is dead. He was my elder biological brother. He was the one who introduced and initiated me into cultism.

“I followed him to his school, a polytechnic in Kwara State. I was a secondary school certificate holder then. When we got there, his friend invited him and I went with him. It was in the bush, though within the school premises.

“When we got there, I was told to remove my clothes and lie down. My brother held my clothes. We were four to be initiated. They started beating us and later asked us to get up. We were given alcohol to drink and told that we had become Eiye cultists.

“We use cutlasses and guns during fights with rivals. As Number 1, I held the constitution. The Number 2 was the armourer. He had one gun with him.”
