Alhaji Muhammadu Besse, a former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Koko Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State, has died while in captivity.
The former party official had been abducted alongside his friend, Muhammed Maibarga, earlier in June. Maibarga, who served as an Islamic cleric with the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa Ikamatis-Sunnah (JIBWIS), reportedly died in captivity three weeks ago.
Prior to their deaths, bandits released a video showing the late Besse and his cleric friend being tortured and humiliated inside the forest.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, stated that the police is still investigating the death of the former party chairman.
