Peter Obi Reacts To Court Ruling Affirming Abure As National Chairman Of Labour Party, Gives Fresh Directive To Party Members

Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) has responded to the Federal High Court ruling that confirmed Barrister Julius Abure as the legitimate national chairman of the party.

Obi mentioned that he had recently met with Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, along with the Labour Party’s Caretaker Chairman and Secretary.

The court upheld the legitimacy of the 2024 Labour Party national convention held in Nnewi, during which Abure was re-elected.

The ruling affirmed that the convention adhered to all relevant laws in Nigeria.

Reacting to the court’s decision on Wednesday, Obi, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasized the need for the party to emerge stronger and more united, encouraging members to remain calm and patient as internal discussions and consultations continue.

The former Anambra State governor also called on all Labour Party members to maintain unity and focus on their shared goals.

He said: “Yesterday, Governor Alex Otti @alexottiofr and I, along with the Caretaker Chairman and Secretary of the Labour Party, convened to discuss and review recent developments, including the judgment delivered by an Abuja High Court on the same day.

“I urge all members of the Labour Party to remain calm and patient as we continue to engage in discussions and consultations.

“Our goal is to emerge stronger and more unified, standing together as one united front.

“We must not allow this to divert us from addressing the pressing issues affecting our people today.

“We have always known that the task of creating a new Nigeria that is possible will not come without challenges.”
