Atiku Calls Tinubu ‘T-Pain’ Amid Economic Hardship

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu over his management of the fuel subsidy crisis, referring to him as “T-Pain” in a tweet on Thursday.

Atiku attributed Nigeria’s current economic woes to what he called the “haphazard and disingenuous approach” of Tinubu’s administration in handling the fuel subsidy issue.

He voiced his concerns over the rising inflation, noting that it is severely affecting the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

Atiku also expressed disappointment that, despite the increasing hardships, Tinubu seems indifferent to the struggles of the citizens.

“The haphazard and disingenuous approach of the current administration to fuel subsidy management has been the reason we are in this current economic crisis in the country.

“As things stand, there will be no let up in the escalating inflation rate, which is drowning the material well-being of Nigerians.

“It is even more worrying that T-pain is undisturbed by the hardship in the country,” Atiku wrote.

The nickname ‘T-Pain’ for President Bola Tinubu emerged as a play on the first letter of his name and the American rapper and producer T-Pain.

The nickname was sparked by growing frustrations over the rising cost of living during his administration.

According to *Peoples Gazette*, the earliest mention of the term on social media dates back to April 2024.

However, it gained widespread attention around September 16, after a user on X referred to Tinubu as ‘T-Pain’ in a post about the President’s visit to Maiduguri to console flood victims.

Since then, the term has gained significant traction on social media platforms like X and Instagram.
