Details Emerge As Buhari Mobilises Ten Members Of His Former Cabinet To Visit Former Minister

Former President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday mobilized ten members of his former cabinet to extend condolences to Mrs. Paulin Tallen, the former Minister of Women’s Affairs and Social Development, following the death of her son, Richard Adamu Tallen.

In a condolence message delivered by former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Buhari described the late Richard as “a gem and a rising star.”

“It is deeply saddening that he has passed away,” Buhari stated, according to a Thursday release by his media aide, Garba Shehu. He urged the bereaved mother and family to find solace in the overwhelming love and respect from those who admired Richard.

The delegation, led by Lai Mohammed, included former Ministers of Power, Engineer Abubakar Aliyu; Environment, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi; State for Power, Jedy Agba; Niger Delta, Umana Umana; and Industry, Trade, and Investment, Niyi Adebayo. Also present were former Ministers of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare; Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Transportation, Muazu Jaji; and Water Resources, Engineer Suleiman Adamu.

 

How Richard Died In Abuja

Richard, the only son of former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, has passed away.

According to a family statement on Sunday, Richard died in the early hours of Sunday at Cedar Crest Hospital in Abuja, where he had been hospitalized.

While the exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed, it was reported that Richard had been placed on oxygen in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Friday night.

Confirming the sad news, his alma mater, the Vom Old Boys’ Association (VOBA), also shared on social media that Richard passed away in Abuja after a brief illness.

“On a very sad note, we regret to announce the sudden passing of our member, Mr Richard Adamu Tallen.

“Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord, may perpetual light shine upon him.

“May the soul of Richard and all departed VOBA members RIP. Amen,” the group posted on Facebook on Sunday afternoon.

The late Richard, a 42-year-old graduate of Computer Science from a university in the United States, is survived by his wife and three children.

The family will announce the burial arrangements at a later date.
