TikTok announced the removal of over 2.1 million videos in Nigeria during the second quarter of 2024 due to violations of its community guidelines.
In its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released on Tuesday, TikTok stated that this effort is part of its ongoing initiative to improve content moderation and enhance user safety.
The report highlighted that 99.1% of the removed videos were proactively identified before users could report them, with 90.7% taken down within 24 hours.

These statistics reflect TikTok’s commitment to preemptively addressing harmful content, thereby ensuring a safer environment for Nigerian users.
The deleted videos account for less than 1% of the total uploads in Nigeria during the reporting period.
On a global scale, TikTok reported the removal of over 178 million videos in June 2024, with 144 million removals accomplished through automated systems.
With a proactive detection rate now at 98.2% worldwide, TikTok has significantly enhanced its efficiency in tackling harmful content before it reaches users.
The platform also reiterated its commitment to investing in technologies that improve content moderation and address potential risks.
