Manchester United Vs Brentford Full Time Match Report

Manchester United ended a five-game winless streak, easing the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag with a 2-1 comeback victory over Brentford on Saturday.

The match began poorly for Ten Hag, as Ethan Pinnock headed Brentford in front during first-half stoppage time.

However, United broke their scoring drought shortly after halftime, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund netting two goals within the first 17 minutes of the second half.

This win lifted United to 10th place in the Premier League, ahead of Brentford.

Ten Hag had recently dismissed rumors about his job security, calling them “fairy tales and lies,” amidst scrutiny following just three wins in their first ten matches this season.

The first half was largely uneventful until added time, despite Brentford’s recent fast starts.

United nearly scored when Brentford’s goalkeeper Mark Flekken spilled a header from Lisandro Martinez, but he recovered to deny Hojlund’s follow-up.

Garnacho emerged as a key player, forcing Flekken into several saves and nearly scoring himself.

The best chance for United fell to Christian Eriksen, who shot over the bar when it seemed easier to score.

Brentford took their time to get into the match, with Christian Norgaard’s effort requiring a strong save from Andre Onana.

United felt aggrieved when Pinnock scored, as Matthijs de Ligt had been off the field receiving treatment for a head injury, leaving them a man down during the corner that led to the goal.

Ten Hag was booked for his protests regarding the situation.

Inspired by the perceived injustice, United came out strong in the second half.

Garnacho equalized with a stunning volley from Marcus Rashford’s cross just 90 seconds in.

Hojlund then scored the winner, capitalizing on a clever assist from Bruno Fernandes to chip the ball over Flekken for his first Premier League goal of the season.

United could have extended their lead, but Diogo Dalot missed a one-on-one chance against Flekken, while Garnacho continued to test the keeper.

Ultimately, United secured their first home win in the Premier League since the opening match of the season.
