Why Tinubu’s Ministers Are Not Adding Value To His Government – APC Chairman

Tony Okocha, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers Caretaker Committee, stated on Sunday in Abuja that President Bola Tinubu’s ministers were failing to contribute effectively to the current administration.

Speaking at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) news forum, Okocha emphasized that Tinubu’s accomplishments were significantly underreported and urged the ministers to increase their efforts in informing Nigerians about the administration’s successes.

“President Tinubu’s achievements are not in the public domain because most of his ministers failed to do the needful and are not adding value to the administration and the country.

“Gone are the days when they say don’t blow your trumpet yourself. These days, you have to blow it loud,” he said.

He noted that despite the challenges, the Tinubu-led administration had performed relatively well, especially given the difficult situation it inherited.

Okocha pointed out that while President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had underperformed significantly, the current government was diligently working to reset the country.

He expressed concern that many ministers in Tinubu’s administration remained largely unknown, as they were not making a notable impact and lacked the communication strategies needed to promote the government’s achievements.

“The president’s achievements in less than two years are unsung; until he has a broadcast, you won’t know what he has done.

“Someone has to be responsible for telling Nigerians what the administration is doing in the various ministries, and all of those combined are the president’s achievements,” Mr Okocha said.

He stated that Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been very visible due to his ability to share his own narrative through his media connections.

The APC chairman emphasized that President Tinubu requires capable individuals to effectively implement his Renewed Hope Agenda.

”Some of these ministers who are not doing well should be sacked to make way for more serious ones,” he said.

Regarding youth involvement in the Tinubu-led administration, Mr. Okocha asserted that the government is not anti-youth.

He expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, stating that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has become a “house of horrors.”
