Trump Spotted At McDonald’s In Final Days Of Campaign

Donald Trump is bringing one of America’s most iconic companies, McDonald’s, into the political spotlight as he campaigns for the White House for the third time.

During a visit to a McDonald’s franchise in Pennsylvania on Sunday, Trump swapped his suit jacket for an apron and worked as a fry attendant.

He later served customers through the drive-thru window, telling them he had prepared the food himself and that it was on him.

Manning the fry machine is a job Vice President Kamala Harris has said she held in her youth, a detail she revealed during her first presidential campaign.

This experience has become central to her middle-class narrative as the Democratic nominee.

Trump, known for his fondness for McDonald’s, has fixated on Harris’ past employment at the chain.

He frequently claims, without evidence, that she fabricated her experience working there. His visit was another attempt to cast doubt on her work history.

“I’m looking for a job,” Trump joked with the owner of the Feasterville-Trevose McDonald’s. “I’ve always wanted to work at McDonald’s, but I never did. I’m running against someone who says she did, but it turned out to be a totally phony story.”

Harris has largely ignored Trump’s comments and has not responded to requests for proof of her employment at McDonald’s.

A campaign official confirmed that she worked at a McDonald’s in Alameda, California, during the summer of 1983 while still a student at Howard University, handling the register and working the fry and ice cream machines.

On Drew Barrymore’s talk show earlier this year, Harris recounted, “I did fries. And then I did the cashier.”

She has referenced her time at McDonald’s while supporting striking workers, and her background was highlighted during this summer’s Democratic National Convention, where her allies contrasted her upbringing with Trump’s privileged background.

“Can you picture Donald Trump working at McDonald’s?” asked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate. “He couldn’t run that McFlurry machine if it cost him anything.”

Over the years, Trump has repeatedly questioned the backgrounds of his rivals, often without basis.

He was a prominent voice in the debunked “birther” movement that falsely challenged Barack Obama’s citizenship. During the 2016 Republican primary, he spread an unfounded conspiracy about Ted Cruz’s father.

In this election cycle, he incorrectly suggested that former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley wasn’t a natural-born citizen and falsely claimed Harris recently embraced her Black heritage.

Despite his accusations, Trump’s own biography is filled with exaggerations.

He coined the term “truthful hyperbole” in his best-selling book, “The Art of the Deal,” describing it as “an innocent form of exaggeration” that serves as effective promotion.

In a 2007 deposition, Trump was found to have lied at least 30 times over two days, primarily about mundane details of his businesses.

He has also made dubious claims about his actions following the 9/11 attacks and reportedly called reporters under the alias “John Barron” to inflate his wealth in Forbes.

It’s unclear why Trump has seized on Harris’ McDonald’s employment, but he has suggested that such details about his rival’s past should not be dismissed.

“We would say, well, that’s not a big lie. It’s a huge lie,” he asserted, “because McDonald’s was part of her whole thing.”

Trump previously visited a McDonald’s in East Palestine, Ohio, after a train derailment there, joking to a cashier that he knew the menu better than anyone.

He has long expressed his love for fast food, attributing his preference to quality control.

During his presidency, Trump famously served a spread of burgers and pizza to Clemson’s national championship football team.

His son-in-law Jared Kushner noted that he knew Trump had improved in his battle with COVID-19 when he requested his favorite McDonald’s order: “Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, fries, and a vanilla shake.”

In a recent Fox News appearance, Donald Trump Jr. criticized the network for not asking Harris which McDonald’s she worked at, claiming that his father’s familiarity with the menu far surpasses hers. “I think my father knows the McDonald’s menu much better than Kamala Harris ever did,” he said.
