The Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Auwal Sankara, is set to be arraigned in a Kano court today on charges of alleged inf!del!ty.
Mr. Abba Sufi, the Director-General of the Hisbah Commission in Kano, confirmed this development to reporters on Sunday.
Sankara was reportedly arrested by Kano Hisbah in an uncompleted building with a married woman.
However, the commissioner has denied the allegations, stating in a press release on Thursday that the claims of his arrest were fabricated attempts to damage his political career.
In response to the situation, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has formed a five-member committee to investigate the allegations against Sankara.

The committee will be chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, and includes the Commissioners for Information, Mr. Sagir Musa; Basic Education, Mr. Lawal Danzomo; and the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Mr. Usman Muhammed.
The committee is expected to present its findings within two weeks.

Ibrahim noted that the seriousness of the allegations raised significant concerns for the state, as media reports on the matter have caused considerable embarrassment and harmed the government’s reputation.
“The government is compelled to set up a committee to investigate the allegations,” he said.
On Saturday, the Jigawa State government suspended the commissioner to facilitate a thorough investigation, promote transparency, and uphold the integrity of the state.
In a statement on Saturday, Ibrahim, said “The decision comes in light of recent claims that necessitate a thorough examination to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the State Administration.
“The suspension is a precautionary measure intended to facilitate a fair investigation. We take all allegations seriously and are dedicated to upholding the trust of Jigawa citizens in the government.”
