The Kebbi State Government has officially approved a new minimum wage of N75,000 for civil servants.
This announcement was made during the presentation of the Minimum Wage Committee’s report, which was established by the governor.
This decision comes as a much-anticipated development for workers in Kebbi State, who were looking forward to a salary increase following an agreement between the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Federal Government for a N72,000 minimum wage.
The new wage represents a slight increase over the federal amount.

In a ceremony attended by national leaders of the NLC, including President Joe Ajaero, Secretary to the State Government Yakubu Bala shared that the agreement was reached after thorough discussions between state officials and the labor union. Both sides ultimately settled on the N75,000 minimum wage.
Governor Nasir Idris, who signed the new wage into law, emphasized that the welfare of Kebbi State workers is a top priority for his administration, reflecting his experience as a former labor leader.
He announced that the new minimum wage would take effect with the October salary, with payments to be processed within 72 hours.
NLC President Joe Ajaero praised Governor Idris for his decision but criticized other governors who have only made minimal wage increases despite receiving higher oil revenues.
He reaffirmed the union’s commitment to advocating for better wages across all states.
In a show of solidarity, NLC leaders celebrated the governor’s decision with chants and songs, expressing their gratitude on behalf of Kebbi State’s workers.
