The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has achieved a resounding victory in the recent local government elections, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the 44 local government areas of Kano State.
Sani Malumfashi, Chairman of the Kano Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), announced this outcome at a press briefing, confirming that the NNPP triumphed in every contested local government.
The election saw participation from six political parties and was conducted peacefully across the state.
Malumfashi commended the smooth process, noting that there were no incidents of violence or electoral misconduct reported.

“We are pleased to announce that the NNPP has won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats across the 44 local government areas. The election was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner, and we did not receive any reports of violence,” he said.
Observers have praised the recent local government elections in Kano State as a significant achievement, highlighting the effective organization and security measures that allowed the elections to proceed without incident.
The elections took place following a series of legal challenges aimed at halting them. On Friday, the Kano State High Court granted the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) the authority to move forward, dismissing all attempts by political parties to obstruct the process.
Justice Sanusi Ma’aji, who presided over the case, ruled that KANSIEC has the constitutional mandate to conduct, supervise, and oversee local government elections across the 44 local government areas in Kano State.
The case was initiated by KANSIEC against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 13 other political parties.
Local vigilante groups and officials from the Kano Road Transport Agency (Karota) provided security at polling units, following a court order that restricted the Kano State Police Command from participating in the election.
