Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga stated that security agencies have struggled to apprehend former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello due to the “complicated” nature of the case.
Onanuga made these comments as a guest on the Sunday edition of Inside Sources with Laolu Akande, a socio-economic program on Channels Television.
In April, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared Bello wanted for alleged financial crimes totaling N80.2 billion.
The EFCC has made several attempts to arrest him at his residence, but each time he was reportedly rescued by his successor, Usman Ododo, who took him to safety.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the former governor has failed to appear before the trial judge, even after multiple adjournments.
