Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday described the Federal High Court’s restriction on the release of state allocations as “the least” of his concerns.
His remarks came during a special thanksgiving service organized by the state government, marking his administration’s resilience amid escalating political challenges, which began with an arson attack on the State House of Assembly complex a year ago.
Governor Fubara reassured that despite the court order, his administration would continue paying contractors and would disburse workers’ salaries starting tomorrow.

He also confirmed that allocations for the 23 Council Chairmen would be credited, following the completion of the Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) procedures.
He encouraged supporters to remain resilient, emphasizing that all obstacles are surmountable.
Reflecting on his administration’s achievements, he noted that despite early predictions it wouldn’t last a week, his government has not only sustained itself for over a year but has also conducted local government elections and maintained a full cabinet, despite attempts to destabilize his leadership through resignations.
Governor Fubara highlighted ongoing projects across Rivers State as proof of his administration’s progress, countering critics who doubted his capacity to deliver.
He also cited recent reports ranking Rivers State among the leaders in financial accountability and transparency.

Reflecting on an October 30 incident last year, he described a violent confrontation with individuals in police uniforms as an assassination attempt, attributing it to political opponents who allegedly ambushed him after he withdrew legal cases against the Martin Amaewhule group, following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.
While he expressed no regret over seeking peace, he acknowledged that his gesture may have emboldened his opponents, who leveraged the withdrawal to secure unfavorable judgments against him.
Governor Fubara concluded by stating that his opponents’ refusal to reciprocate his peaceful approach has influenced his decision to resist other measures for resolving the political crisis.
The thanksgiving service, held at the Alfred Diette-Spiff Civic Centre in Port Harcourt, featured top gospel artists such as Joe Praiz, Frank Edwards, Asu Ekiye, Peterson Okopi, and Jackson Jones.
Pastor Uma Ukpai was the guest preacher, with attendees including top government officials, APC Chairman Emeka Beke, and APP Chairman Sunny Wokekoro.
