The House of Representatives has requested that the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, cease the issuance of airstrip licenses to private individuals and organizations, as well as revoke any licenses that have already been granted.
This request was made following a motion put forth by Honourable Suleiman Gumi, who highlighted a specific airstrip approved for Winners Chapel in Ogun State.

He reminded the House of a 2014 incident involving a well-known religious leader who was associated with a private jet used to transport millions of dollars to South Africa for arms purchases.
The House expressed its concerns about the current security challenges in the country, arguing that permitting airstrips for private use could exacerbate the situation.
