Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan or VDM, is set to appear in court today facing allegations of impersonation.
The charges arise from a viral video in which he was seen wearing uniforms of the Nigeria Police Force “without authorization.”
In the video, VeryDarkMan referred to himself as CSP VeryDarkMan and claimed to be Nigeria’s “number one online police officer,” prompting condemnation from the NPF.

“Interested persons are encouraged to follow up on the proceedings as the case unfolds.”
Meanwhile, VeryDarkMan was detained by police on Thursday after responding to an official summons.
While the specific nature of VDM’s offense was not disclosed, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the detention in a post on X on Thursday.
Adeyanju noted that his client had previously complied with a similar invitation on Wednesday.
His post read, “Our client, VDM, has been detained after honouring a police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has been consistent in stating that the Nigerian Police are our friends, even when we all know they are not.”
