Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray handed Tottenham their first Europa League defeat of the season, clinching a 3-2 victory in Istanbul on Thursday to go top of the group.
The Turkish champions now have 10 points from four matches, putting them in a strong position to qualify for at least the knockout play-off round. Meanwhile, Spurs dropped to fifth, ending their perfect run.
Galatasaray struck early when Yunus Akgun unleashed a stunning long-range volley into the top corner in the sixth minute.

Tottenham responded 12 minutes later, with young striker Will Lankshear tapping in Brennan Johnson’s cross to score in just his second senior appearance.
However, Galatasaray regained control before halftime. Osimhen netted twice within eight minutes, first restoring their lead with a powerful finish and then skillfully volleying in a cross from Dries Mertens.
The Nigerian forward has now scored six goals in eight games for Galatasaray since joining on loan from Napoli.
Despite missing several chances to extend their lead, Galatasaray maintained control as Spurs’ comeback hopes faded after Lankshear was sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession.
Substitute Dominic Solanke pulled one back for Tottenham in the 69th minute, but Galatasaray comfortably held on to secure the win.
