The company stated that this leadership shift is intended to enhance corporate governance and operational efficiency, in line with the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) recent push for higher governance standards within the telecom sector.
Farroukh’s deep-rooted experience in African telecommunications makes him well-suited to lead Globacom through its planned restructuring.
With over 20 years in the industry, he launched his career in 1995 as CEO of Investcom Group, a Lebanon-based telecom firm later acquired by MTN Group.
Throughout his career, he has held several executive roles, including Managing Director at MTN Ghana, Regional Director for West Africa at Investcom, and CEO of MTN Nigeria from 2006 to 2010.

He later served as CEO of MTN South Africa in 2014 and went on to lead Mobily in Saudi Arabia, the nation’s second-largest telecom provider, until 2017. Most recently, he was Group CEO at Smile Communications Nigeria Limited in 2019.
Farroukh holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the Lebanese American University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from New York.
