Tinubu Reappoints Mustapha As NBRDA DG

President Bola Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Abdullahi Mustapha as Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) for a second five-year term.

This was announced in a press statement issued by Toyin Omozuwa, the press secretary to the NBRDA DG, in Abuja on Saturday.

The statement indicated that Mr. Mustapha’s reappointment was formalized through a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Mustapha’s second tenure is with effect from 31st October, 2024 and is in line with the provisions of Section 10 (1) and (3) of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022,” it said.

Mr. Omozuwa stated that industry experts view the reappointment as a testament to President Tinubu’s confidence in Mr. Mustapha’s ability to foster innovation and advance efforts toward achieving food security.

He further noted that the reappointment will allow the Director General to continue his work in strengthening pharmaceutical production and positioning Nigeria as a leader in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Mr. Mustapha is a Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry and is from Dambatta Local Government Area in Kano State.
