The Arewa Consensus for Jonathan, a political group in Northern Nigeria, has called on former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to run for the presidency in 2027.
Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015, is widely respected for his role in advancing democratic growth and for his peaceful exit from power after losing the 2015 election.
Although he has remained largely out of the political spotlight since leaving office, his name continues to be a key part of conversations about the country’s future leadership.

At a press conference in Bauchi over the weekend, the group’s leader, Munir Musa, emphasized the importance of Jonathan’s return to power in addressing Nigeria’s mounting economic and security challenges.
Musa argued that, given the nation’s economic struggles and growing security concerns, Nigeria needs a leader with Jonathan’s experience and expertise to restore stability and progress.
“The nation is at a crossroads, and we believe Goodluck Jonathan is the right person to lead us out of the current crisis,” Musa said, expressing confidence that Jonathan’s leadership could help heal the country’s divisions and set it on a path to recovery.
