Senate Sacks Umar As CCT Chairman

On Wednesday, the Senate invoked Section 157(1), officially removing Yakubu Umar as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal due to allegations of misconduct.

Umar’s dismissal paves the way for Abdullahi Bello to officially assume the position of substantive Chairman of the Tribunal.

A total of 84 Senators, representing a two-thirds majority, signed in support of his removal and resolved to send the resolution to President Bola Tinubu for further action.
