In August 2024, Brazil’s Supreme Court upheld a ban on X (formerly Twitter) after the platform failed to meet a court-imposed deadline to appoint a legal representative in the country.

This decision marked the latest chapter in an ongoing dispute between Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes and Elon Musk.

The conflict began in April 2024, when de Moraes ordered the suspension of accounts spreading disinformation on the platform.
