On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron shared a lighthearted exchange of greetings in Pidgin English on social media.
Tinubu, who arrived in France on Wednesday evening for a state visit, had a meeting with Macron on Thursday.
During their discussion, Macron reminisced about his time as an intern at the French embassy in Nigeria.
Macron also took to his X handle, posting in Pidgin English to express his gratitude to Tinubu for his visit.

“E still dey sweet me well well as I remember say I be young intern for French Embassy for Nigeria that time,” Macron wrote.
In his reply, Tinubu expressed his gratitude to Macron in French, emphasizing that the chance to enhance bilateral relations is an exciting opportunity.
Continuing in Pidgin, the Nigerian leader reminded the French president of the importance of building partnerships based on mutual respect and equality.
