Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, a distinguished development economist and global finance expert, made history in 2021 as the first African and the first woman to lead the WTO, an organization comprising 164 member nations.
Her first term as the seventh Director-General of the WTO will conclude on August 31, 2025, with her second term set to begin on September 1, 2025.
In his congratulatory message, President Tinubu expressed great pleasure in Dr. Okonjo-Iweala’s reappointment, noting that her unanimous selection for a second four-year term reflects the international community’s trust and confidence in her leadership.
