Beyoncé has been named the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard, the music charting platform announced on Tuesday as part of an ongoing series.
According to Billboard‘s Andrew Unterberger, “Beyoncé tops our staff-chosen editorial list based on her 25 years of influence, impact, and evolution.”
The publication highlighted that Beyoncé earned her top spot due to her groundbreaking contributions as both a performer and creator.

Her dedication to innovation, evolution, and excellence has established her as the standard against which all other pop stars of this century are measured.
As the most Grammy-awarded artist of all time with a record 32 wins, Beyoncé is poised to add even more trophies to her collection following 11 nominations for her 2024 album Cowboy Carter.
Beyoncé has a long-standing presence on Billboard‘s charts, with nine No. 1 hits and 24 top 10 singles on the Hot 100.
Eight of her albums have topped the Billboard 200, starting with her 2003 debut solo album Dangerously In Love.
Prior to her solo career, she achieved immense success with Destiny’s Child, and all 11 of her solo albums have appeared in the Billboard top 10.
Since August, Billboard has been ranking the top 25 pop artists of the past 25 years, selecting those who have defined pop stardom and exemplified pop greatness in the new millennium.
Last week, Taylor Swift was named No. 2, with Rihanna in third.
The top 10 also includes Adele, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Drake.
Katy Perry rounds out the top 25, with other notable artists such as Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Eminem, and Usher appearing in the rankings.
