Fulham Vs Arsenal Full Time Match Report

Arsenal missed the opportunity to close the gap to just four points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after being held to a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Sunday.

A late goal from Bukayo Saka was ruled out by VAR for offside, halting the Gunners’ four-match winning streak in west London.

Fulham took an early lead through Raul Jimenez before William Saliba equalized with another goal from a corner, a trademark Arsenal set-piece.

Mikel Arteta’s side moved up to second place, edging above Chelsea, but remain six points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand after their match at Everton was postponed due to high winds on Saturday.

Chelsea can reclaim second spot if they avoid defeat at Tottenham later on Sunday.

Arsenal were still missing key defenders Gabriel Magalhães and Riccardo Calafiori due to injury, and Fulham capitalized on the makeshift left side of their defense to take the lead.

Kenny Tete’s ball behind the defense was seized by Jimenez, who charged forward and expertly slotted the ball past David Raya into the far corner in the 11th minute.

The goal came against the run of play, and from that point, Arsenal dominated possession, eager to keep their title challenge alive. Saka had Arsenal’s best effort of the first half, but his shot was comfortably saved by Bernd Leno.

Arsenal’s set-piece threat was well known, having scored twice from corners to beat Manchester United 2-0 earlier in the week. Despite Fulham’s efforts to defend against them, the Gunners’ corner prowess proved decisive once again.

Saliba found the back of the net after tapping in a header from Kai Havertz, marking Arsenal’s 23rd goal from corners since the start of last season.

Another corner presented a chance for a winner, but Thomas Partey headed wide when unmarked from a precise Declan Rice delivery.

In stoppage time, Saka thought he had scored the winner with a header at the back post, but Gabriel Martinelli had been offside before providing the cross.
