The 2024 Edo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to begin its inaugural pre-hearing session regarding petitions challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Monday Okpebholo, the APC Governorship candidate, as the winner of the September 21 governorship election.

As of this morning, seven petitions have been filed before the tribunal. Among them is one from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
In the September 21, 2024 election, Ighodalo secured second place, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party finished third, based on the results announced by INEC on Sunday, September 22.
