Akpabio Makes New Appointment

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has appointed Chinedu Akabueze, the outgoing Clerk of the Senate, as the new Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate.

Akabueze will take over from Sylvester Okonkwo, who has been named the Executive Director of the newly established South East Development Commission.

Having served as Clerk of the Senate since March 4, 2022, Akabueze is retiring at the mandatory age of 60.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly Service Commission has approved the appointment of Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate, effective December 11, 2024.
