The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been named the Women’s National Team of the Year at the 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards.
The Falcons received the honor during the award ceremony taking place in Marrakech, Morocco.
They triumphed over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana and Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses, the other contenders for the prestigious award.

Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), accepted the award on behalf of the team and dedicated it to Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, in recognition of her continued support for women’s football in the country.
The Falcons made history by qualifying for the Olympics for the first time in 16 years, representing Africa at the Paris 2024 Games.
Unfortunately, they were eliminated at the group stage after losing all their matches, a stark contrast to their impressive performance at the 2023 World Cup, where they reached the Round of 16.
In the men’s category, Ivory Coast’s Elephants claimed the National Team of the Year award, edging out Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
